The project redesigns the heart of Bagnolo Piemonte, transforming it into a connected, welcoming, and multifunctional system of public spaces. Piazza San Pietro, with its church and bell tower, becomes a true city agora: a place for gathering, the churchyard, a market area, and a stage for events. Via Einaudi is transformed from a simple thoroughfare into an urban promenade, enhanced with seating, trees, and green areas, successfully combining pedestrian circulation with market activities. Piazza Divisione Alpina Cuneense, currently an anonymous square, is reimagined as a green plaza with terraces, water features, fitness areas, and children’s play spaces, conceived as a new hub for social interaction.
Coherence is achieved through the use of Luserna stone, an iconic material that characterizes pavements and urban furnishings, creating visual and formal continuity across the different areas. Greenery, fountains, and misting systems improve the urban microclimate, while pedestrianization and sustainable mobility return the city center to the community.
From a technological standpoint, the project emphasizes sustainable and durable solutions: permeable and grassed pavements to enhance soil absorption, urban furniture in corten steel and stone designed to integrate with the landscape, low-impact LED lighting, and misting systems to regulate microclimatic comfort and reduce the urban heat island effect. Every choice is aimed at ensuring efficiency, accessibility, and environmental quality, with particular attention to climate resilience and the valorization of local materials.
A unified intervention that intertwines history, landscape, and innovation, transforming Bagnolo into a “Boulevard of Stone”: a recognizable, inclusive, and forward-looking urban path.
