The project for the new secondary school envisions a building composed of two connected blocks: one intimate, reserved for the school community, and one with 24-hour functions, open to the wider community. The layout is guided by optimal orientation for energy efficiency and the SW-NE road axis, with main classrooms facing south.
The building develops over two levels, reducing its footprint and freeing up green spaces. The entrance along via Leopardi is defined by a “filter square,” while the intersection of volumes creates covered and protected areas leading to the atrium of the south block, housing the library, auditorium, and multipurpose rooms, and to the north block’s agora, a double-height space for events and communal activities.
The north block includes classrooms, laboratories, and a multipurpose/canteen area, with potential expansion for three additional classrooms. Educational spaces are flexible and interconnected, fostering integration and interaction among students. The second floor of the south block hosts administrative offices, a staff room, and a listening room.
Circulation spaces are designed as educational areas, functioning as squares and agoras that promote exchange and collaboration. Interiors follow inclusive teaching principles, with flexible rooms, soft classrooms for safety, and exhibition spaces integrated with the laboratories.
The project encourages stimulating, creative, and physical experiences, enhancing individual skills and supporting student growth. The use of color contributes to creating recognizable, welcoming, and potentially calming environments
